Since 2009, we have stepped into the medium-voltage switchgear sector and specialized in fully F-gas-free technologies. From the very beginning, HM POWER has built an international expert team — aligning with elite professionals from ABB、Siemens and other global players - to conduct research, carry out validation tests, and drive the whole industry forward.

At the time we kicked off the R&D program for the ASNA RMU, mainstream RMU designs within the distribution industry relied on SF₆-gas-filled load-switch concepts. Unable to interrupt short-circuit fault currents, these designs carried substantial O&M burdens and could not fulfil the needs of future smart distribution networks.

Against this industry backdrop, our R&D team set clear objectives from project inception: to develop a green, safe, compact, maintenance-free circuit-breaker-class RMU / switchgear suited for future smart distribution networks.

Countless days and nights of solution studies, simulation calculations and prototype iterations were conducted in parallel at the Vasteras R&D Center in Sweden and the Guangdong R&D Center in China. The engineering team repeatedly refined structures, optimized electric-field distributions and verified insulation performance. The team overturned existing designs time and again to pursue further optimization, resolving technical challenges encountered throughout the R&D process.

In December 2009, the first ASNA RMU prototype was officially completed at the Vasteras R&D Center in Sweden.

The completion of the prototype unit marked a brand-new starting point. Following this milestone, the team kept conducting stringent type tests, operating-condition simulations and on-grid trial operations to continuously optimize the product. After multiple rounds of upgrades and refinements, ASNA RMU gradually entered the global market, serving distribution network projects across various countries and regions.

With the enforcement of the F-Gas Regulation (EU) 2024/573, the global power distribution industry has accelerated the phase-out of equipment using fluorinated greenhouse gases. The atmospheric pressure sealed natural air insulated RMU/switchgear, featuring SF₆-free, zero internal pressure and no gas-filling requirement that eliminates gas-leakage risks, has gradually gained industry recognition. Since 2010, more than 60 000 units have been operating fault-free worldwide. 

What has driven us forward along this journey is our firm conviction regarding the development trends of future distribution networks. We remain technology-oriented, attend to the real-world requirements of power-grid operators worldwide, and continuously refine our products, delivering to global customers solutions that balance reliable operation-and-maintenance with environmental-friendliness.
