Project Background
The Tanzania Sapphire Float Glass Industrial Park is a benchmark project under China’s Belt and Road Initiative. The glass manufacturing process imposes extremely stringent requirements on power supply continuity, power quality and voltage stability. Meanwhile, the park features complex operating conditions including high temperature, high humidity, dust and tin fog corrosion, which pose severe challenges to the corrosion resistance and long-term operational reliability of power distribution equipment.
Project Overview
• Commissioning Date: October 2023
• Project Location: Mkuranga District, Pwani Region, Tanzania
• Core Products: 12kV ASNA atmospheric sealed Natural Air insulated switchgear / RMU
• Delivery Quantity: 22 sets
• Manufacturing Lead Time: 30 days
• Application Scenarios: Industrial park distribution rooms and factory power distribution rooms
• Operating Environment: Tropical coastal climate with suspended dust particles; the indoor factory temperature remains around 40℃ throughout the year
Solution Description
In terms of structural design, this project adopts a separated layout of relay protection devices and switchgear. Current signals from outgoing units are routed to external connection boxes and then transmitted to relay protection devices in the control room, facilitating centralized monitoring and management. The cable compartment door of the switchgear features an outward extension design, reserving ample space within the cable compartment for convenient installation of various sensors and cables.
In terms of operational performance, ASNA switchgear maintains sufficient temperature-rise margin at rated current, enabling stable operation under high-temperature thermal radiation conditions in the workshop. ASNA switchgear adopts a unique atmospheric sealed Natural Air insulated structure to effectively isolate ambient dust, keeping the insulation performance of the switchgear unaffected and ensuring long-term safe and reliable operation of the power supply system.
Project Outcomes
By deploying ASNA atmospheric sealed Natural Air insulated switchgear, the project fully meets the core requirements of high power supply reliability, superior environmental adaptability and unattended operation.
Since commissioning, the complete set of power distribution equipment has withstood the site’s harsh operating conditions, achieving zero faults and zero power outages to ensure the continuous and precise operation of the float glass production line. The equipment eliminates gas leakage risks associated with gas-filled switchgear and avoids the regular maintenance workload required for conventional air-insulated switchgear. It effectively reduces long-term labor and spare parts investment for factory operation and maintenance, minimizes massive production losses caused by planned and unplanned shutdowns, and improves the full-life-cycle economic benefits of the entire power supply system.
