Project Background
As the core aviation hub of the Hainan Free Trade Port, Haikou Meilan International Airport undertakes key functions including passenger and cargo transportation as well as air traffic control (ATC) navigation support. The ATC station room renovation required an upgrade of the power distribution system under non-stop flight and uninterrupted ATC service conditions. The project demands absolutely continuous and secure power supply, while the equipment must adapt to on-site conditions featuring densely arranged devices and complex electromagnetic environments.
Project Overview
• Commissioning Date: March 2018
• Project Location: ATC Park, Haikou Meilan International Airport, Haikou City, Hainan Province
• Core Products: 12kV ASNA atmospheric sealed Natural Air insulated RMU
• Total Equipment Supply: 1 set (B+M+B configuration)
• Manufacturing Lead Time: 7 days
• Application Scenario: Core power distribution room of ATC station
Solution Description
The incoming and outgoing switchgear adopts a circuit breaker solution equipped with ST280 relay protection devices. The metering unit is hard-connected to the incoming and outgoing switchgear via busbars without cable transition, realizing full power metering for outgoing feeder unit.
Project Challenges
The electrical scheme of the project is conventional, while the major challenges lie in on-site installation. ATC navigation belongs to zero-tolerance first-class load, which prohibits any power interruption or tripping fluctuation. In addition, the renovation had to be carried out with normal flight operations, resulting in extremely limited power-cut construction time and placing stringent requirements on equipment positioning and installation.
Based on on-site condition assessment and compliant with ATC power supply specifications, a safe isolation and window-period access solution for old and new equipment was formulated:
1. All ASNA atmospheric sealed Natural Air insulated RMUs were fully manufactured and completely tested in the factory before overall delivery to the site, simplifying on-site procedures and greatly shortening the installation cycle.
2. The technical team conducted on-site environment surveys, solution handover and full-process simulation drills in advance. Clear personnel division and emergency response plans were defined to accurately complete equipment positioning, installation isolation, wiring testing and commissioning within the extremely short power-cut window. The project was finally completed 1 hour ahead of schedule.
This project fully verifies that ASNA switchgear features convenient positioning and installation, which significantly reduces on-site installation workload. Combined with excellent anti-interference performance, maintenance-free characteristics and SF₆-free environmental advantages, the complete solution supports efficient renovation within an ultra-short power-cut window and ensures continuous and stable power supply for critical ATC first-class loads.
